Maintaining Your Indoor Rowers

With a few simple maintenance steps, you can keep your indoor rowers in tip-top shape for years to come. For additional maintenance tips visit the service pages on our website.

Back to School Maintenance Tips

  1. Oil the chain using the chain oil that came with your indoor rower. You may also use a lightweight mineral oil. You only need a small amount. Wipe off the excess oil.
  2. Inspect all the screws and fasteners. Tighten as necessary, paying special attention to the screws that hold the seat onto the frame, and the screws that attach the front and back legs.
  3. Wipe the monorail clean of dust and dirt with window cleaner and a paper towel.
  4. PM3 and PM4 Performance monitors:
    • PM3: Insert fresh batteries. The batteries typically last about 300 hours.
    • PM4: If the rechargeable battery is low, charge it before using the indoor rower for the first time. To fully charge a battery, use the USB cable and plug the performance monitor into a computer overnight. You may also purchase the A/C adapter to recharge the battery pack. If preferred, two D-cell batteries can be used instead of the rechargeable battery.

Summer Vacation Maintenance Tips

  3. Wipe the monorail clean of dust and dirt with window cleaner and a paper towel.
  4. Check for dust inside the flywheel enclosure with a flashlight. Vacuum if needed.
  5. PM3 and PM4 Performance monitors:
    • Remove D-cell batteries to prevent corrosion or battery drain while not in use.
    • PM4: If the rechargeable battery is low, charge it fully before storing for the summer. To fully charge a battery, use the USB cable and plug the performance monitor into a computer overnight. Take the charged battery pack out of the PM4 and store in a place where you can easily access it at the beginning of the next school year.
  6. Store your indoor rowers in a clean, dry location.
