Our members literally waited in line to use the rower! Also, we had a couple of members who lost weight just from adding the row in their routines because it added some cross training to their normal workout routine.” - Citibank-Greensboro. “We [posted] daily updates with our total meters rowed and how we ranked. It helped keep our members focused.” – Citibank-Jacksonville. “Wenatchee Valley Youth…had a total of 270 rowers under the age of 15 who rowed during the contest. Most days there was a line and we had to limit time to three minutes. The rowing machine was in use almost constantly six hours a day, five days a week during the contest. The kids loved it and they outdistanced the adult team.” – Wenatchee Valley YMCS Youth +1 “The Cardiac Rehab crew is loving the rower and the challenges. We are now creating some (challenges) intra hospital and considering inter hospital challenges here in town.” – St. Mary’s Rhythmic Rowers “Unbelievable time commitments by so many. Does there exist a competitive/non-competitive forum anywhere where so few give so much to a goal during a one month period? If so, what and where is it? If this is not pure athleticism at one of its finest moments, then I do not know what is.” – Ancient Mariners Programming Ideas (top) Take advantage of these upcoming summer challenges!
The 6th Annual Summer Solstice Row will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2008. On that date, the longest day of the year, we challenge you to row 21,000 meters, on the water or on the indoor rower. The meters can be accrued from several workouts throughout the day or from one long workout. Once you enter the meters in your online logbook, you will be able to download a special certificate from the Challenges section of your online logbook and your name will be included on the 2008 Solstice Challenge Honor Board. Read more about the Summer Solstice Row. While you’re at it, you may just as well row an additional 97 meters and make it an official half-marathon of 21,097 meters! The half-marathon does have to be rowed in one sitting. Small breaks are allowed, but the rest time needs to be included in the final time for ranking. Don’t have an online logbook yet? It’s free and easy to set up. Visit concept2.com click on Interactive Tools > Online Logbook. Concept2 CTS in the News (top)
